New from the wilds of Wilts....

Post by pigeonsniper »

Hi everyone, I'm Tony and I'm a prepper...... there I said it :) .
I guess I've always been a prepper of sorts ( I have a long military background ) but I've decided to take it more seriously. My interest was really piqued when I watched Domesday Preppers. Some of those guys and gals take it a bit too far for more personally but each to their own I guess.
My personal take is that I'm prepping against fuel/food shortages and/or a pandemic. These are the most likely scenario's in the UK IMHO. I'm not intending to store years and years worth of food. I'm more into being a bit agile. I live in the Wiltshire countryside surrounded by small game and a lot of natural resources so I'm more into improving my bushcraft and hunting skills. I also like saving money by improvising for myself, and both my wife and I are outdoors/camping type people (she is ex-military) so our prepping will differ to some. I already have a lot of prepping gear due to years of military kit issue and my own build up of this type of gear, I just need to consolidate and organise it all.
I'm also going to make sure we are well armed, my own personal view is that only preppers and the ruthless (or a combination of both) will survive more than a few weeks if tshtf, natural selection will take care of the rest. I don't intend to be ruthless but I don't intend to be a victim either. A small assortment of close range weapons complimented by a crossbow for me and a compound bow for the wife should do it. We are both decent shots so it's all good from that perspective.
I have a lot of potential bug-out locations very close by, where I am confident we could survive indefinitely, with the right prep. Part of my prep is to recce and make notes of existing natural food sources, it's also a good excuse to take the dog out :) .
Anyway, enough from me for now, I look forward to participating on the forum.

Hi Arzosah, I do indeed, she has informed me that she must have a hunting knife, this could get expensive  . As for the avatar, it seemed appropriate :)
