It designed with car use in mind which simply means it's 12 volt and has a ciggy lighter plug on it and fits in a cup holder I have an adaptor with croc clips on to put straight on a 12 volt battery which I bought for on of those cooler boxes they sold years ago, and still do so long as you can draw 180ish watts from it at 12 volts you can use it
I have a strategy, it's not written in stone, nor can it be, this scenario has too many variables, everything about it depends on those variables, being specific is not possible.

As far as I understand it to use solar panels you would need to a charge regulator and a battery to charge, and then connect an inverter to the battery. 150 watts would only power a small appliance. Not kettle or Iron

also £5 multi tools as well. not sure on quality but the Stanley ones I got from Amazon for £7 were very good for the price and 3 years on I still have all 3

Got to admit I only have a cheap one too, if I could only have one I'd get a Gerber or Leatherman one, truth is other things are just more important, and at the end of the day nothing beats a real screwdriver/pliers/fixed blade/saw

While true, since I bit the bullet and bought myself a MT I've found that I'm always using it because its right there on my belt and my 'real' tools are elsewhere hiding in a toolbox or lurking in the shed.
The only exception is the knife blade as I always carry a folder.... This is part of the reason I'm taking the one off the MT (its a SOG and they're supposed to be user maintainable) and replacing it with something I'm more likely to use (wire-strippers are looking favorate ATM)
I saw they have an offer on resealable vacuum packing bags that you don't need a hoover or WHY to suck the air out.
Thinking they might be useful for travelling or compressing clothes and stuff for the BoB (main problem with vac-packing BoB gear is when you unpack the stuff you can't get it back in the bag).... 2 pack for £2.99, anyone tried them ? (my nearest Lidl requires a planned trip as its not on the way to anywhere I go)

Vacpacking bags - even without a hoover, they can still be useful - my sister tells me she pushes the air out gradually, and ends up laying on it for a while, and she gets maybe 80% of the performance out of it

we have five Lidl's in Plymouth and I think there's one in Saltash and Tavistock too, I can barely go anywhere I want to go without driving right past one, your right about having something to hand that will do the job, I think if I got out more I'd better appreciate that.
