Erm....prepping this week....if it's raining I thought I'd have a test of starting fires in the wet using a magnesium striker and vaseline/petroleum soaked cotton wool balls as tinder. Anyone else tried this method?
I recently experienced Plymouth City centre so that's why I prep.

Just took delivery of some plastic vacuum bags for clothing and bedding. Put my winter things in it and vacuum sealed it to give me more space, to minimize the risk to my health of dust and mould as we are now in the time of higher humidity and generally make me feel more organised. I sure am dreading unpacking them though.

Yes it works well.

I also use this method:

Two is one and one is none, but three is even better.

Joining the local archery club, ordering things for my BOB, buying seeds, raiding the local poundland (2 glowsticks for a pound, 10l water carrier for a pound etc), stocking up on food and water, trying to get my other half to buy into it to no avail and reading up loads and loads....
Welcome to the forum arnie72,I too had other half problems but she has slowly come around to the idea though it has taken time. In the mean time keep the faith and keep on reading there is masses of info on the site, and its all free.

looking into making raised bed so far the best idea is decking boards, tending what is already planted, trying to convince OH that we need chickens lol should entertain the cats!!!!

Stocked up on tinfoil, allergy tablets and sticky bandages I go for vet wrap as it is cheaper than human ones but just as good and anamlintex poltice for the horse and me lol.

Apologies as I know this is not available to everyone but... if you can get to a NAAFI there is a MASSIVE sale on.
I got flint block fire lighters for 60p (bought 5), there were £16 aluminium mini torches down to £3, 6 box of candles down to 27p, gerber multi tools usually £37 down to £11, gerber monocular 75% off, gerber torches 75% off, quick dry towels £2.75, gerber storm proof lighters are 75% off... I could go on but you're probably bored.

Like I say, I know this isn't available to everyone but for a prepper I was in awe. I spent just over £100 and could have spent twice that.
