what can you do with rowan berries ?
what can you do with rowan berries ?
Lots of rowan berries on the trees this year (old wives tale says this is a sure sign of a bad winter to come ) Does anyone know of a good use for rowans ? I believe they're good for vitamin c.
Re: what can you do with rowan berries ?
I'm aiming to work on rowan berries myself really soon looking at these recipes. The 2nd one is a bit too complex for me, I'll cut it down a bit, but the principle is there - you can make jam, but you can make a savoury sauce/chutney type thing as well.
Enjoy!

About a year and a half ago a made apple and rowan jelly and it's grown better with age. Apparently you're supposed to tuck it away in the back of your pantry for a couple of years and the bitterness goes.

Hello there!
to get rid of the bitternes of rowan berries harvest them after the first frost and make jam and jelly out of it. I heard of people who distil the juice, quite expensive product and hard to get hold on the market.
