I'm not sure if this is what was meant but 3 tall nails,in the ground in a triangle shape, makes a basic stove. Paraffin block underneath, pot on top.

A fairly likely scenario in the UK is to be caught out in a severe snow storm. Likely clothing will be a main issue if not in a vehicle or having to leave it. Anyone carry era clothing in their cars with spare boots?

Yep, spare boots, trousers, shirt, fleece and waterproof. Helps if one gets covered in something as well.

Ever since my kids were wee ones and one of them fell in mud drainage ditch at our local forest, I have always carried spare in the car. Even now and my girls are teenagers, I have a small bag in the boot with spare socks, underwear, tshirts and long sleeved top as well as leggings. The plus being that now clothes are more or less interchangeable with me - one daughter being slightly smaller and one being slightly taller! I also keep in my EDC spare socks (wet feet are the door to all sorts of illness and lowering of the body temp) and some gloves as well as a mac in a pac - yes even in the uk summer I carry these.

I always keep a pair of waterproof trousers (bright yellow motorway worker type) with matching padded waterproof coat (use them at work) a fleece jacket again bright high vis yellow a spare pair of chucka safety boots with a ball of socks shoved in them for when i get soaked at work like today..... once winter really bites my down jacket or great coat will be added and a change of trousers and jumper will go in

along with usual winter car prep stuff...
If your roughing it, Your doing it wrong ;)

Lack of planning on your part doesn't make it an emergency on mine

One good rule I go by is to always keep the tank topped up. I never allow it to go below 2/3. Thus at least I can keep the engine running for some time if trapped in freezing weather.
