Guerilla Gardening
Re: Guerilla Gardening
I like the idea of this kind of thing but I'd want to observe an area for a while to make sure tht it's not a place that the council will send a spotty oik with a big back tank of chemical nasties to liberally spray a couple of times a year.

Re: Guerilla Gardening
nike or in other words " JUST DO IT!"
I used to dither and procrastionat loads of good ideas, but if I had just planted some nuts they would be 10 years old now!!
just do it and it will grow.
small plants can be a little finikie, but trees ! man I LOVE trees, onse that are endemic just are so for-filling,, England and Ireland ex was all forest.
walk past an Oak tree pick up a few acorns, walk a little and plant them , you will be amaised!
there are some apple trees I planted along the fence line on rite of ways on top of a ridge that have now had fruit that have roled down the hill to make more apple trees all the way down to the road.
if the TSHTF I would be drunk on cider all year

Yeah. Just do it is great advice for a prepper, or anyone else, for that matter. Churchill, I understand, in the dark days of the war, had a notice on his desk; 'Action this day'! Same sentiment, same commitment, good result!

Re: Guerilla Gardening
For the non gardeners among us could any one suggest (or point to info') the best plants to plant? I know it's subjective but I'm thinking in terms for those who have laid down quantities of rice, wheat, beans and have stocks of cans etc and want to widen what may be available during a SHTF scenario.
What I mean is that I have enough calories stashed away but would like to be able to forage plant full of vitamins and micro nutrients, thing to keep me and mine healthy and "regular" if you know what I mean.

Re: Guerilla Gardening
I did a quick search and it seems it's more common than I would have thought. Technically it IS illegal but from what I can see it's largely , but not completely , overlooked. Obviously illicit drugs are something the police will pursue but I can recall a few months ago a young man being either prosecuted or threatened with prosecution for unofficially looking after a public space. It was reported on the BBC's midlands news I think.
It even has it's own page and there is a facebook one too-

From a prepping point of view many of these guerrilla gardeners plant sunflowers , there's a page just for that too , and of course the seeds are edible but to the masses you would just be planting something to brighten up the place.
