New prepper

Post by OctopusPrime »

Hi all, hope you are well

I have been worried about the fate of our future society for a long time and I have tried to look on the positive side for so long. All I can see happening is government cutbacks, more unemployment, more wars, civil unrest, failing nations, rising prices ect

It's just so overwhelming at times. All I can foresee is everything slowly crashing and everyone ignoring it until it's too late.

I'm not sure if I'm going mad or if this is a very real event, I also hope I'm not the only one here that is worried. Either way I want to be prepared and able to secure a future for my family.

I have not started to buy anything yet, but I am researching and compiling information and knowledge that I feel will be necessary for after such an event. I have lots of ideas, I will talk about them at a later date
I am a professional carpenter, plumber and multi-trades man. Overall I'm a resourceful guy.

Thanks for reading, first time I've really spoke about this

Hi there OctopusPrime, welcome to the forum.

You're absolutely right to be concerned about the future of our society; as technology has increased so has the fragility of the whole countries (worlds) infrastructure.
Yes it's rather like watching a car crash in slow motion; you can see the impending disaster coming but you're nevertheless powerless to stop it.
The good news for you and yours is that you've recognized the inevitable truth about our society's demise (whilst the majority are burying their heads in the sand.) Barring any sudden cataclysmic event you now have time to gradually collect the supplies and equipment you think necessary, and therefore increase your families chances of surviving whatever unknown challenges await them in the coming years.

There is a veritable mine of information and advice to be had by browsing through the past posts on this forum; happy reading :!:

Thanks all for your welcomes

im glad im not the only one who can see this way of life turning to shit.... its just not working. Whilst i love my life at the moment and very much hope that we are all wrong, i very much doubt we are.

On the plus side i just had a chat with my partner, and she almost completely agreed with me

WTF...

Not like her at all... though i did only suggest stockpiling non-perishable food as a plan B, which would also save us money.... yeah.... nailed it... shes totally on board.

She just hasnt seen the rest of the game plan ;)
