I have a strategy, it's not written in stone, nor can it be, this scenario has too many variables, everything about it depends on those variables, being specific is not possible.

Re: weapons
No apologies needed its probably me i have a habit of typing fast and never re reading to myself before posting. As stated I have never and will never resort to threats or violence unless absolutely necessary (self defense) and even then the object is to do it with as little physical harm to anyone as possible. Clearly our friends across the pond don't have the monopoly on telling friend from foe, one once told me not to believe anything I heard and only half of what I see

An air rifle can be carried in public as long as it is in a gun slip. which is fastened.butterbean wrote:an air rifle sounds like a decent idea, ill have to look into laws with that, im sure there will be some.
And you are over 18
I have two both are weihrauch A spinger w97k .22 and a pcp .177 ( pcp is compressed air )
The pcp is for fun and general target shooting the springer is for hunting and target practice.
Weihrauch are German, Accurate, powerfull ( just under 12ft pound the legal limit ) and most of all reliable.
There are loads of reviews and tests just check out any air rifle magazines on line.

Re: weapons
Despite my absence from this site for the last few weeks, i have been through a heck of a lot. This site has been amazing for advice and this topic is one that i have been seriously taking a deeper look into. I have found 2 gun clubs fairly local to where i live, The one provides a shooting range for air weapons and are very commercial based in that they do family events and team buildings days etc but also give guidance to individuals. One is a club that specialises in weapons with live rounds. I have discovered that they do beginners lessons which i have decided i am going to start in January.
I seriously think that it is a worth while skill because lets face it, for those of us who are prepping for the absolute shtf scenario, having that skill may be handy to have. A few may disagree with my my sentiments, i may not be wording things right, i dont plan on shooting people etc, I think that there is a lot to learn from a skill like that. Eg, when people learn karate its not just to learn how to punch and kick, its to learn self control, discipline, confidence, co-ordination and focus.
My inquiries however to the police were not of the best time, Five weeks ago i reporting an attempted breaking to the police, to which i had no response, 4 weeks ago i made an online enquiry to my local police firearms officer who was actually knocking on my door half hour later

Good luck with that you'll soon find it's a family activity, yes firearms are dangerous the rules serious, but target shooting is a fast growing and extremely safe sport, have fun.One is a club that specialises in weapons with live rounds. hi
what do people think about non lethal weapons?

When you can't run, you crawl, and when you can't crawl - when you can't do that. You find someone to carry you.

While a bit of OPSEC's certainly isn't bad idea here,Wingfoot wrote:londonercsecse wrote:How did they know who got firearms at home? How did they choose targets? Where did they get the information? How can we avoid this? There is nothing about these in the article...
Anyone with access to the PNC system can get the information.

Others are suspected of having access.

Also many gun clubs have websites that show their location, it would be easy to simply follow its members back home.
Also loose talk on internet forums can give away personal details.
Dont forget 192.com either if you have an unusual name you will be quickly found.

I equally think anyone seriously worrying over crooks tracking them down for their guns,
needs to take a deep breath, sit down and have a cup of tea.
IIRC the number of guns stolen in this country every year's usually below the 500 mark
which when you consider there are 100,000+ rifles and well over a million shotguns being held on certificates is pretty good going,
less than half of 1% in fact.
Re: weapons
Using weapons is a tricky subject. And a very big one!
First up, you need to be fairly sure you have the will to use them, in most of our cases we imagine we will be using them to defend our families in the context of a fallen society - so motivation is not such a worry.
But then you need the skills and the familiarity to use them effectively, now this is a hard one. I shoot semi-auto pistol on a daily basis, but the average gun fight is over in 3 seconds - I do not train for gunfights so I would be fairly hopeless!
And lastly you need to be sure that your weapons will not make things worse for you, ie fall into the wrong hands or agrevate a previously solvable stand off.
As for bows, cross bows and air rifles. Yes, the nice lady can do rapid fire. Can you? I cant and have owned a bow since I was 12. I doubt very much that 90% of shooters could use those three types of weapons in a fight.
So that raises the question... Having stayed on the right side of the law and gathered what you can, shuold you not then get training in how to use them? What tactics are apropriate, what skills are missing?

That's the link to a very interesting series of videos. If you are reading this and can get yourself on one of the many available self-defence/martial arts courses do so. I will.
There are also sword-fighting/dagger/knife courses available. Google those terms and perhaps add the term fiore for the fighting style.
