Very few of us are, after all how likely is an invastion of Alien Mutant Zombie Biker-Mice from Mars anyway ;)
just aware that we may not always have the spare money for food!
SHTF is most likely to be a localised disaster (Probably extremely localised........ as in "your place"), grabbing an INCH pack, getting tooled up and bugging out to live in the woods for the rest of your natural makes great films (and a few crappy ones) or crappy TV but that just isn't what a lot of us are about.

Prepping is a form of insurance, and one that doesn't require a salesman :D

Bettersafe: You lucked out on that deal

Re: Coffeemate. Try Tesco's own brand whitener , comes in a big box (both fattening and diet..... Can't remember what they call them exactly) and even open seems to last pretty well (we had a box at work that I'm sure was open for nearly a year)

So I boiled up some Smart Price tinned potatoes (14p) and a can of Irsih Stew (33p) so at 47p for my tea I wasn't expecting much but a meal that would keep my family and I alive. I was shocked and stunned to find out that with a pinch of salt and a dash of brown sauce that not only was this not nasty .... but it was absolutely delicious!

thanks i tried this last night and agreed it great and the kids liked it aswell thanks - do anyone know of any tinned food which goes well together
i have done
tinned veg and meat/hotdogs
tinned fish and pasta
tinned pasta with chesse

Morrisons and asda have a fair range of own brand "meals in a tin" so to speak

stuff like

sausage casserol just add some rice

meat balls bit of pasta

curry and rice or chips

they even do mexican mixes to add to tortia or flat bread to make into wraps

not forgetting the Fray and bentos pies if you have a gas or camping oven to use

one of my favourites when chips are not easy to make is to slice tinned potatos about 5mm thick then fry with a large chopped onion

also some of the tinned stews

if you have flour and suet in your preps dumplings are easy to make

1/3rd suet 2/3rds flour (self rasing) mix with little water to form a stiff dough then add to stew in little hand rolled balls and simmer for 15 -20 mins

Excellent!

Try the Chill Con Carne and some rice. The chilli is actually quite tasty.

Yes, I'm a big fan of asda's canned meals. Good range, at £1.50 per tin or 3 for £4 at present. I get a few with every shop, and am gradually building up a respectable stock. The curries need a good supplement of chilli powder, I find. But otherwise, any can can be perked up flavour wise by adding it to a freshly chopped and fried onion and a dose of appropriate dried herbs and spices. Tabasco and Worcester sauce are also useful in this respect, and also figure on my prepping agenda.

Cheers, 2RM.
