whats the legal status with these amazon units? since they contain AM frequencys doesn't that make them naughty under the wireless telegraphy act?

Not sure which product you mean.

But in general terms, AM is about to become legal on citizens band (27 MHz).

What colour did you get ? I Nearly went all Rambo and got camo but I changed my mind and stuck with std black

Black same one in that link above :) looks more robust than the others probably be the same quality plastic as the other models but it looks good :twisted:seems to have the same spec but is the newer model allegedly

Well, I've done it.

Went along to my local radio Ham club, and joined.

I walked through the door, it went deathly quiet, they all looked at the new boy.
I was in shock for a while,
all of them a bit nurdy,
looks like I might fit in.

Going to start the foundation license, even going to have a go at Morse code.
A chap there was a Telegraphist when he was younger and teaches it.

Going to look into Raynet too.

I've also just taken delivery of two Boafeng UV-5R Plus Qualette in camouflage colours woooo.
(It's their latest offering, got a larger aerial, and that matters)

I'm all up for the group license idea of Malthouse
