I watched a utube on homemade firelighters last week and basically you will need:

Loo roll tubes, string, dryer fluff/lint, paraffin wax blocks.

Cut tube in half to make 2 mini rolls, snip each tube so that you can fold ends in to seal them up and make mini parcels, stuff with the lint, then wrap your string round (as if wrapping a gift box) to seal closed. Now dip into the warmed melted parafin wax a few times to coat the tube and the string. Leave to dry and then store in a tin till ready to use. This will make paraffin wax blocks last longer than just one fire and they will burn long enough to get a good fire burning.
