Couple of updates to my micro EDC today - it is seriously on a budget and so my cheapy little torch has been added. I'm amazed at how good it is - for the £1.49 I paid I think it's a proper bargain. Top off the battery whenever I'm near a USB and I'll never be short of a bit of light. I do use my phone for light usually, but it's very limited when it comes to distance and general brightness. This little thing works much better.
And this is my keyring USB charger that I've just swapped out from my other bag with a normal cable charger. Nice and small, cost about £3 or £4 when I got it last year.

Re: Micro EDC
I got a couple of those wee credit card knives because they were cheap, I planned on carrying one but I was bit concerned that they're fixed blades when usable. I don't know for sure where you would stand with them so left it out my wallet. If anyone knows the legality of carrying one I'd be interested to know.dangerman wrote:Looks good - does it have a belt loop? I'm just a bit confused about what you're paying for, does it do anything special or is it just a nicely built little thing?
Also, here is my wallet EDC - this is in every sense and true every day carry. It's a bit pointless, no need to the extra knife and I can't see the matches are for occasional back up if I'm in work or camping. But it's all so small and carriable that I've done it anyway. I've got a cheap tactical pen and a pen type torch that I'm planning on adding to it when I change wallets. Then I can relegate the pouch to my bag and just stick it in my pocket when out with the kids or something.
Here, have a look. Asterisks are yet to acquire.
Wallet (soon to be canvas, maybe a maxpedition spartan?)
Emergency/family contact details*
emergency fiver (and some USA cash for some reason)
credit card knife
tactical pen*
pen torch, streamlite*
£1 coin
Credit card & debit card
National Trust Membership
Student ID
couple of sheets of waterproof paper*
Spare phone battery
Strike anywhere matches wrapped in duct tape
11in1 credit card tool
Micro SD card to SD card adapter
Re: Micro EDC
Yeah, good stuff. I might upgrade my little first aid pouch at some point. I'll see how much use it. The Maxpedition stuff looks nice, I like that it zips open all the way and has little straps to hold gear into accessible pockets and areas - it's just more than I want to pay right now. I was thinking of going for the Spartan wallet to upgrade my leather one. I'm hoping to fit my tactical pen and pen torch into the tri folds, but even that is £20 and other similar wallets are £3.BeardedGrandad wrote:Unfortunately there aren't any pocket/belt loop but to be honest the way it zips open (personally) I don't think it could would with them. It does however sit perfectly in your pocket and depending on what you're carrying isn't uncomfortable to have there either.
I just use it instead of carrying a bag around with me though granted it isn't going to be able to carry the same amount of stuff but it's enough to fit a pretty effective EDC
What do you keep in yours? Have you seen all the Maxpedition EDC YouTube videos?
I can only use my logic and say that it's not lockable - there is no locking mechanism, when in your hand your grip fixes the blade into place, but as soon as you let go it droops like Bernard Manning's sausage. You're right to be cautious, I think I'll drop it too since you have. I've got a couple of other back up blades (on my keys and in that little pouch). Just not worth it, is it?Deeps wrote:I got a couple of those wee credit card knives because they were cheap, I planned on carrying one but I was bit concerned that they're fixed blades when usable. Re: Micro EDC
Aye mate, I carry a SAK on me anyway, and I've got one of those 11 in 1 tools in my wallet as well, it was me just being my usual obsessive self wanting a 'spare'. The card knives I bought had a wee circular locking 'button' on them, I'm probably being extra cautious but as a 'spare' I just thought it wasn't worth the risk, they're a good idea though and if I thought it wasn't an issue I'd have one in my wallet 'just in case'.dangerman wrote:BeardedGrandad wrote:

I also had a similar issue with keys I have a bunch for the truck & for the bike, all solved with a keyport.
