Yes there's a sliding plate that you can open and close wider its opened = more heat. Puts out about 1.8 kW similar to a 2 bar electric blow heater
If your roughing it, Your doing it wrong ;)

incorrect, from page 8 of instructions=

" the extinguishing plate must remain completely open once the bio fuel has been lit. When you want to extinguish the flame and when not in use , the extinguishing plate must remain firmly closed"

Yes I jerry rigged one with some bioethanol burning tins and a chimnea as a cheaper solution.
£30 chimnea and about the same for the tins and so I got about 800W X 3 when I need it.

A "chim burner" or bioethanol burner for a chimnea is a safer option through. But they are about an additional £45 ish.

Got this from costco, great heat and very fuel efficient. No it's not plugged in lol
