I've brought The CB radio which is 30 quid off Hobo, and to be fair it looks pretty snazzy and the antenna is pretty good! however, on the down side i'm still trying to work out if it can be powered outside of a car?

Leisure batteries like Gazelle, Weza or Xantrex Xpower 400, charged up with solar?

Chose this one: http://www.thunderpole.co.uk/cb_radio_pack-starter.htm (I chose the 1.55m orbitor antennae).

problem with my one is it connects directly to car battery, so the connecters are a bit weird! I bet being powered directly by a car battery it has a fair range!

apparently not for this one, am looking at a AC/DC power supply converter, lets me use it anywhere with a mains then... after i get paid next, maybe get an external power source, so i wont have to rely on the mains!
