All well and good having plans to deal with fire and subsequent insurance claim, but prevention is much better than cure. Get your electrical system checked every few years, check your appliances (and don't buy the cheapest), don't overload sockets, ensure plugs are fitted with correct fuses, don't rely upon lots of extension cables. As regards lots of extinguishers, go for a decent smoke alarm and get out as quickly as possible - the toxic fumes from artificial fibres will kill you quicker than anything.
