+1 to those.

They are doing 16 for a £1 at the mo at my store.
Two is one and one is none, but three is even better.

I know I will get some flack for this, but I recharge my non-rechargeables, I have a normal charger it isn't anything special, I just pop in the depleted batteries and switch it on, check back on them every now and then to make sure they aren't hot. I can normally recharge them 3-4 times.

^ reminds me of getting a rather large bollocking off my mother as a kid seeing Albert Steptoe heating batteries in the oven to get more life out of them...

Let's just say they go with a bloody big bang on gas mark 9 :tinfoil

My dad used to stand em in the fireplace just to get a bit more life.Mind you that was the three day week when there was no power and no money.
In three words I can sum up everything I have learned about life: It goes on.

For AA AAA none rechargeable I buy bulk Duracell or varta high energy but always ensure I get longest shelf dates varta now 10 years buying 50 or more a time and rotate as we use a few generally anyway.
As for nihms c d cell AA AAA I use some eneloop, but mostly vapextec had some 7day shop ones but aren't very good compared..
The Kodak pound land are also good for low drain energy items

Theirs always better and worse but for me it's about getting them at the right price so keep eyes peeled buy bulk ,share a bigger purchase .
I've bought out of date batteries cheaper lasted longer than cheapest too .
