My GHB

No pal. I've got one, but it's too heavy for my GHB - let's look for a good small one!

By the way, I've just bought a Wintertrax for my GHB, which are grips that fit onto shoes to help you walk on the sort of ice you get on the roads we might be tabbing along to get home. Just tested them on the icy pavements and roads around me - wow! Best tenner I've spent in ages. Stupidly, one foot wasn't put on right so it came off - I noticed it quickly as I started doing lopsided slides, then put them on correctly. They're ace.

I've got one of these, I keep it in a small pouch I had, it lives in a wee resealable bag in the pouch. I get 1.8 full charges for my phone out of it.

I didn't bother with any kind of mess kit other than a collapsible cup and a couple of sporks but but you've made me think about it and I ordered one of these.

Apparently the pouch can be used as a millbank bag which seems clever. It arrived this morning and for 7 quid seems the ticket. Mrs Deeps picked up that it was 'second hand' and pulled a face but I'm less fussy. This will now live in my GHB. Its basic but should be more than adequate for what I (hopefully never) need it for.

This is the problem with these things, what starts off as a pretty simple bag ends up getting bells and whistles added and I blame all you lot for giving me ideas.

They seem pricey, they're maybe worth it but a quick check through my Amazon history shows I paid 12 quid for the one I posted (apols I didn't check to see if it was in stock ). I've got other ones but this one seems a great compromise on price/size/weight/wigglies. It was an Amazon gamble that came off, I wish I'd bought a few more.

My daughter has got me a phone chargy thing, so that will go in the pack. I have squeezed in a high viz too, handy for walking roads. It is a nice compact package, ready to go. On the outside there are two straps for holding a telescopic trekking pole, so I have added one of those. It could have multiple uses, if you know what I mean

The whole lot comes in at 14lbs. This is what I have been aiming for; a reasonable weight, compact and multi use. It can be used in any emergency situation as it is very 'civilian ' looking. Anything scary like knife or cammo poncho are at the bottom wrapped up. Also, the contents are layered.

The EDC pouch can go on my belt, and has everything in it for basic, down and dirty survival. The tobacco tin PSK is in my pocket and the Mora knife on a lanyard under my clothes ( if a situation dictates it has to come out of its hiding place).Taped to the sheath is a fag lighter, flint starter and strong heavy vac bag for holding water. On the lanyard is a whistle, photon led and button compass. Cody Lundin- style.

Overall, I am pleased with it and it will take minimal maintenance with water/food/battery changing.
