Just wondering where they would be "useful" in a Bug out situation though, maybe for doing raiding or looting, but not a lot of good if the street has been evacuated for a chemical spill. ;)

Probably not for a chemical spill but surely the point of prepping is being prepared for a variety of general events not just the little "blips". Hopefully you would never have to use them but that would apply to a lot of our preps

As they take up virtually no space and weigh very little they could be a very handy tool during/after any event.

Only about thirty quid a set as well. :D

True CC but would they go into this particular box? or be in a BoB, or EDC kit?
There are commonly three types of FB padlocks available. FB11, FB14 and FB1 padlock. These standard padlocks are normally used for securing foldable parking bollard, bin stores or car park gate.
FB is the abbreviation for Fire Brigade. FB locks and keys are a set of standard locks and keys that are commonly used in the communal area, such as electric cupboard, car park gate and bin store. The standard model means that emergency personnel can access to those area using FB keys, which are widely available from any local locksmith. Property managers and councils who need to carry out frequent inspections are encouraged hold a set of FB keys at all times.

Please remember that since there are only 3 types of FB padlock available then they are, in effect, a keyed alike padlock. If you purchase 2 or more of any single type of FB padlock they will all be identical.
Just wondering?

LOL....... weird to see a shelterbox on the forum!!

I HAVE huge amounts of experience with these, really, you dont want one of these as a BOB!! You cant buy one from SB, they're made up from sponsor suppliers - the tents are unique to SB in fact, you cant buy them off the shelf anywhere!!

Equipment is good, but is directed to where the box is going... sleeping bags used to be inside until refugees used them as body bags!! They had no idea what a sleeping bag was and thought they were inside for wrapping up the dead family members. Now, only fleece blankets with a 'survival blanket' inner are provided.

This is a real basic kit for refugees, a typical BOB would have more equipment, and more personal to the user. The stoves arent exactly like a frontier stove - they were made for SB to collapse away into the box. All of the equipment is picked so it can be used regardless of country and essentially without the use of instructions!!

Great post Janso - thanks for that. But I have to say that a ready packed BOB that I could use without any instructions would be be brilliant!

I really dont know how much it would cost to buy all the components, but I do know that to raise the funds for one box and its delivery costs £590... I'm sure, you could make a personalised BOB for less (unless you want a 10 man tent!!)

One item that does get packed mainly is a lifestraw family http://www.lifestraw.org.uk/LifeStraw.html

Quite an effective and simple item that works really well! I think you can buy them online somewhere around £20 - 30..
