Re: Fruit Juice
Thanks to the kind folks for taking time to answer my query. It`s given me a lot to think about as I use sweeteners all the time in coffee and look for it in juices instead of sugar. Maybe I should just stick to sugar and take less in altogether.

Re: Fruit Juice
People have this mind set about sugar being bad for you.
OK so there are better things for you than sugar but at least it aint poison and in moderation sugar is OK.
After all, too much salt will kill you yet you can't live without salt.
Just so you know, there are no recorded cases of anyone dying from too much chocolate.
Be lucky (and sweet)

Re: Fruit Juice
Well, was recently diagnosed with ateriosclerosis, and told to watch my diet. I was raised rural and on butter, eggs, meat and strong tea with lots of sugar!
I used to work it all off fine but with passing years, ill health has kyboshed that so I guess I can`t eat the same. So I used sweeteners, but now will probably return to sugar in moderation (knowing that excess sugar turns to fat in the body) on the basis that natural tends to be best and everything in moderation, from real butter instead of synthetic stuff to less but good quality meat to real sugar.
On the original question, about the only dried fruit `stuff` I remember seeing was Creamola Foam! That is probably afore everyone`s time though, don`t think they make it anymore and not entirely sure real fruit ever gave it a passing nod.

Re: Fruit Juice
Sorry to hear about your diagnosis Red.
Apart from the aspartame thing, I can't stand the taste of sweeteners. If you look at the calorific value of some diet drinks there is very little difference between them and the "Normal" drinks.
You only have to see what cola can do to copper coins to think twice about drinking it. 90% of my liquid intake is just filtered water. I don't drink tea or coffee, lager tastes minging unless you turn it into a shandy (Yes I am a jessy), spirits do nothing for me especially whiskey. Sorry to our cousins north of the border but whiskey turns my stomache. However, I do like the Irn Bru Alcopops and they are "MADE IN SCOTLAND FROM GIRDERS". (Said in my best Scottish accent)
Having said that, I love HP sauce and that can clean a dirty coin up like new.

There you have it from the Royal Society of Chemistry it is possible to OD on chocolate - rather glad I don't like it.
