It's likely that water will be available medium term in the form of UK rain, streams, puddles. We mostly need a reserve while we get the harvesting and purification sorted out.
My multi-pronged approach.
A few dozen 2L bottles of supermarket smart price water at 17p a bottle... A couple of water butts off your downpipe, and couple of water straws (about 15 quid each). Then for if TSReallyHTF, you make one mad dash to fill your wheeley bins with water and use your stock of these https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07 ... UTF8&psc=1
This whole prepping can be daunting, but it's never been more socially acceptable to 'have a bit extra in'
Concentrate on what is max bang for your buck in terms of meeting reasonably likely scenarios ( Like being stuck at home off work for a month )
An extended 'pantry' well stocked in pasta, tinned tomatoes, dolmio, oats, dried mash, some tinned ready meals, a few tins of fruit, and you have initial survival covered. It doesn't have to cost much at all. Then, build it out. Embellish with a few packets of biscuits, some wine and chocolate, etc etc whatever you like. It's amazing how soon you realise that you have massive resilience.
Then when something like the current situation arises, recognise the gaps in your plan. See the need for more dried milk, chocolate raisins, weetabix, candles [insert what you discover an unpreparedness for]
But keep it secret from extended family and friends. Just you and your soulmate. Oh and maybe don't use your full real name on a forum?
