If you're on a basic state pension then you can get Pension Credit which is a really good help.
Govt website says
"Pension Credit tops up:

your weekly income to £182.60 if you’re single"

My state pension forecast is £185.15 a week if I contribute another 2 years (after April this year). Current forecasst is £177.72. I'm going to at least finish this year's NI payments, so will get at least £181 or so.

So from what I can see, Pension Credit only helps if you are significantly under the maximum state pension.

Also they reduce it if you have over £10,000 "savings". I took my company pension already, and put a chunk of it as a lump sum into a savings account. I assume they count that as savings.

It helped us a lot at one time, husband had to leave work early because of heart probs. It opens the door to other benefits and full housing benefit inc CT. I found it plenty to live on.

Reached my goal for silver coins, now onto Gold sovereign stacking.
Two is one and one is none, but three is even better.

I bought a silver coin and a small gold one a couple of years ago. Was a bit stupid as prices had just shot up. Anyway, they are a bit lower now. But I was lucky. I bought the cheapest, which is a random year. But my silver one is 2020, and the current price for those is more than what I paid. And the gold is 1905, and the price to buy those is a bit more than what I paid.
