Re: Hand gel
@Yorkshire Andy i have never tried them i might get a small tub of them as i say when i rebuild the air rifles hmmm the grease sticks like **** to and army blanket and if it gets on the switches and handles in the kitchen i spend more time cleaning up .
@rik lol well no kids here just the wife and i guess i could lock her out easier lol , thanks for all the in put guys i am just working on a larger faraday box to store my 2 small mini laptops and all the memory cards and the spare laptop hard drives in caddies got to keep as much info as we can , well the stuff of use anyway .
i can say this that faraday material you can stick it on with wood glue but be warned the glue does come through so might be worth spreading glue over the box leave to near dry before putting the material on , note to self , but it is coming out ok and it is going to be better than nothing i hope i did test the material out put a mobile in and rang it no signel i put the phone on dial in the material did not ring the houe phone and then put a radio in on am first nothing thne on fm nothing so it does appear to work .

Re: Hand gel
Interesting my experience has been the very wet stuff burns far better than the quality gelrik_uk3 wrote: ↑Thu Sep 15, 2022 9:22 pm You can use alc gel to light fires but pick wisely the cheap stuff is often not much more than 60 proof so gives a low surface burn not ideal for fire starting

Re: Hand gel
I use alcohol hand gel to preheat my MSR petrol stove before lighting. Much less soot than preheating with petrol.
Re: Hand gel
Best not to use petrol in 'petrol' stoves, dirty fuel, spillage lingers, additives block the jet and it smells.
Most of us in the 'stovie' community use fast panel wipe, burns very clean, no soot, no smell, less jet blockage; your stove will thank you. Make sure you get the FAST not slow version and shop around for the best price.

Re: Hand gel
The liquid type is nearer pure ethanol and will burn better than the majority of the gels, check the strength of whichever version you buyTrojanhorse wrote: ↑Thu Sep 29, 2022 1:23 pmInteresting my experience has been the very wet stuff burns far better than the quality gelrik_uk3 wrote: ↑Thu Sep 15, 2022 9:22 pm You can use alc gel to light fires but pick wisely the cheap stuff is often not much more than 60 proof so gives a low surface burn not ideal for fire starting

Re: Hand gel
Thank-you, wasn't aware of that. More spoon-feeding required any idea which jet to use? I have a kerosene (really really sooty) and petrol jets (tolerable if lighting with alcohol). Are there specific alcohol jets?rik_uk3 wrote: ↑Fri Sep 30, 2022 2:43 pmBest not to use petrol in 'petrol' stoves, dirty fuel, spillage lingers, additives block the jet and it smells.

Use the petrol jet. Outdoors I prime with a little bit of the panel wipe....use care and caution if you do this.Nurseandy wrote: ↑Fri Sep 30, 2022 3:39 pmThank-you, wasn't aware of that.
