Car headlights
Re: Car headlights
I do have mine set on automatic switch on. I do find they switch even before I would do myself. Did notice something today though. I started the car after jumping in from the rain and the light were off. I wouldn't have put them on as I thought vision was good. But, as soon as I turned the wipers on the light activated. It also chimes and messages the dashboard if a bulb fails. I like this as you never know when you lose a break light on a long journey.

As for lamps not lasting avoid the overpriced high street stores
Something like Hella / lucus/ osram banded lamps are probably your best option especially as a box of 10 will be a similar price to a pack of 2 from hellfrauds ...
For example stop/ tail lamp
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/325828034098 ... %3A2332490
Headlamp h7
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/202731735762 ... R76I6cGZYw
Saw recently the RAC is charging £17.99 each for the h7 off the van
