Indeed it doesn’t,but slaughter a pig or beast, ( that’s a steer to non butchers :lol: ) still creates a load of meat. In the First World War the Russians would simply take a beast on site for a number of soldiers on the battlefield. That was a days ration. Non leftover,so no preservation needed.
