We’ve always just tried to prep for events that we actually can do something about, (not global warming or nuclear war), storing food and growing fruit & veg, storing water and the means to collect and purify more.
We have propane and a two burner picnic stove for emergency cooking, coal and wood for heating, solar power for lighting and battery charging, medication and first aid requisites, and a chemical toilet.
We don’t live in an area where flooding is liable, our home is well maintained and we keep materials and tools to repair any storm damage. We are lucky that we have some savings and have had no problem as yet with paying bills, thank goodness.
We are quite well set up and are maintaining our preps, more or less, we are still adding to our food stocks and usually buy special offers saving money, just ordered smokeless coal for next winter, always cheaper in summer. At the moment we are sorting things out to make life easier in an emergency.
I'm currently sat under solar lights in our lounge .. the kitchen has a set too as too does upstairs landing and the master bedroom this time of year they get used daily long days plenty of sun and short nights they are great come winter they are used as emergency lights as you just don't t know when the mains will go off and when the next bright day or 3 is to charge them fully
Tomorrow morning the ecoflow I'd going on the solar panel to recharge itself now it's run flat the battery control unit should happily reset itself but 5hrs running the TV is great in my eyes if I can get it charging each day through summer on solar it'll save me a few pence a day
