Hi Jansman,
Thanks for the wishes and the advice. I saw an oldish guy on youtube who could hit a tin can thrown into the air every time, and he didn't even aim. The guy was amazing.

I will see if I can find the link.

Do you use the BB's that are especially for the catapult or do you just use pebbles/stones that you pick up on your travels?

The BB's are really quite heavy when you have a few so I am guessing that what you find on your travels is much better, cheeper and lighter on the back.

I use lead balls.12 mm usually. If I can't lay my hands on them I use steel.Bells Of Hythe ,the place to go.Ammo and elastic.Google it,good site.
Lead is getting expensive, but it is the best as it has massive stopping power.I find steel a good second. You must practice with the ammo you hunt with to gain consistency.
I used to use marbles but they just don't have the stopping power. Even sized pebbles are better.I have a pebble covered front garden(graded size)and over the years it got patchy!

In fact, if you want to go the no-cost route then pebbles are it .After all Goliath was slain by a pebble from the boy David's Arabic sling, according to the story.
Hope that helps.

Thanks for the help. I love car boot sales but I am not a morning person and all the best stuff has gone by 7:05AM. :(

I have a pebble front garden as well but I guess it is still down to, do I fill my pockets on the way out as I am still carrying weight.

Practice is the key I guess. I got a load of heavy BB's with the catapult but I don't want to waste them practicing. I will defo have a look at that website.

Thanks again for the input.

Load up before you go.you can't be sure to find any whilst out.

When you practice drape a blanket over a pole as a backstop. This will absorb the the impact and you can retrieve your ammo!

There is a massive piece of land that is waiting to be built on near my house so I could go and get some practise in.

Like the blanket idea, might get some funny looks but who cares.
