Sealskinz are good CG, they also make 'waterproof' socks in two lengths which are just as good in performance. As mentioned, mittens are better for those who feel the cold as they combine the heat from all fingers.

Have you considered wrist warmers? I have seen them marketed out there online, but basically a pair of sweatbands covering the wrist warms the blood as it enter your hand thus, circulating that warmth. Have passed this on to a few others over the years either RNLI crew or outdoor enthusiasts and it works.

When out on the hill, especially winter, I normally wear a thin pair of gloves that are great for manual dexterity work like navigation, compass bearings, etc and have a waterproof pair of either mittens or mountaineering gloves over the top depending on what I'm doing - mitts for general walking and gloves for technical work, i.e, using axes or rope work.

Always carry spare gloves when youre out CG, you will ALWAYS have wet gloves regardless of activity and if the wind takes a pair out of your hands, you always have a back up pair in your sack - think redundancy.

Give the wrist warmers a try first and adapt hand layering depending on the task or the warmth needed. You could make your own by using cut offs of neoprene from a wetsuit, utilise the ends of a support bandage, etc. If you find it makes a difference then go ahead and invest in a pair that work for you and your activity.

Stay warm!! :D

best pair of gloves i ever had were a pair of cycling gloves, the gauntlet type, bought for a few quid in a car boot, very warm even in the snow and ice we had last winter.

Sorry didnt see your post - I have a big family and they keep me busy Rob - need a fulltime sock factory at this rate. Wish I hadn't started them on hand knitted socks now...

I've got Reynauds too and not managed to solve the glove problem. When I lived in a snowy area I tried everything, and outside the only thing which prevented an attack was sheepskin mittens. I went through all the various types and also knitted myself mittens, although with hindsight I only used ordinary wool and should have used alpaca maybe....The sheepskin mitts are great, but very unwieldy, especially as I'm usually dog walking and got a lead to fiddle with.

Inside I've never solved it but have never heard of sealskinz? so going to google that. Have bought a handwarmer to try when it gets colder.

I'm unable to add anything here for the OP but, as we are talking socks, I am hoping maybe you guys could help a little. I'm needing to find some good socks, comfortable ones that will help reduce my getting this bleeding constant blister on my foot. The current problem I am finding is my feet sweat a load no matter what socks I'm wearing :( Any suggestions?

I also apologise for hijacking this thread, but it's what us Midlanders do haha.

I went to maplins yesterday and they have heated gloves for £19.99 reduced from £24.99. They take 3 AA batteries in each glove and can get to over 40 degrees according to the packaging.

Wifey wants a pair for Christmas. They go quite a length up the arm and felt quite toasty just as they were without any batteries in them.

They might be on their website so have a shufty.

I was reading up about Lugol's Iodine on the web and there was something about helping with feeling the cold. If you want I can try and find the page again and post it here.
