Positive thoughts for a swift recovery coming you way.... :)
Thankyou.

It has to be worth getting the flu jab. I had flu symptoms at the beginning-4 days in I wanted to die or get better. The cough has,and still is, so intense it makes me vomit.

I reckon if you had full- blown influenza and you were not ultra fit it could easily see you off.

I agree, flu is serious and scarey how fast it flattens you. I used to get it every bloody year.

flu is passed by human contact, which is why i try to stay away from crowded places, especially places like large car boots where i have lost count of the amount of people who sneezed over my shoulder or in my face, really disgusting, and who neither use a tissue or handkerchief. spitting in the street is another thing i hate to see, i blame footballers for this, kids see this on the TV and think its "cool".

Yep - when I got flu it was after struggling round the supermarket doing Xmas shopping. Part of my idea of prepping is to get enough food etc stored so that I do as little of that as possible when the germs start flying!

Hope you feel much better soon :)

I have asthma - last flu jab I did was in 2007 - I found after jab my asthma kept getitng really really bad along with really bad flu and kept having to end up in hospital -

Since not taking - had only 1 serious cold and no major asthma attack. I regularly take multivitamins, B12 complex, 1000mg Vitamin C and Vitamin D - so far so good.

It's interesting the amount of people who seem to have a bad reaction to the vaccine. This cough shows no sign of leaving yet, so there will be no flu jab for me. The vitamin supplement route is interesting.

They would be good to stock ( multi vits) for the event of poor or limited diet I think.

I take a high dose vitD, a high dose B12, both from Amazon, and Costco multi vitamins. I used to get flu and chest infections every bloody year, even in summer. I got flu last winter when we went to the daughters for xmas dinner. (SIL works in the local hospital and it was full of flu cases). But it was really mild compared to the usual, I was only ill for a week. So that proved to me that taking vitamin supplements is working, at least for me. I get my GP to test my levels every 6 months in case it goes too high.

Yes there are ALOT of people that do have very bad reactions- they water it down at the GP though - my problem is I don't know EXACTLY what I'm being given - last year it suddenly came out that that they were given the flu vaccine but it was a combo of swineflu vaccine as well .

I didnt agree with government abitrailly giving out this stuff for the slighest sniffle - pumping your body with antibotics when you dont even have a system creates serious tolrenace build up - so when your really ill your buggered

Yes having a good balance of vitamins - is well worth it - with such busy lives sometimes we dont get all the nutrients we really need - high dose B12 complex - has been proven to reduce the effect of alhzeimers , vitamin D is great for low immune system and depression - which some people get in winter, we cannot store vitamin C in our body so unless we are having fruit every day, this is pretty much vital

This is route I think you should really look at - it wont elimnate your ashtma - but you will see a diference with regular supplements - the flu jab is a personal choice - I found the effects of having them not condusive to my health - so I personally decided to do without it.

Hi jansman - just a quck other note because your asthamtic - your chest infection can quickly turn in to bronchitis in one quick swoop - so it may be worth going to GP and let them listen to you lungs - I had a cough that would not go away at the beginning of the year - no flu, fever or anything just the cough it was bronchitis - got a great cough cordinal from GP (sorry really cannot remember the name as I myself want to have some in stock) - though didnt pay through prescription as actual item only cost £1.99 and it cleared it up in no time.

In the meantime - hope you feel better soon! :)
