Not so subtle bump for this. ( Ends 31st Aug )

Found this clip on Celox Bandages and the Saving of Chainsaw Operator with a Significant cut to the Neck.

Please think about how many of us bimble off to the middle of nowhere ( mostly dense tree area so limited Rescue Helicopter access ) and start to play with large very sharp instruments.

Ideally these sorts of Medical practices should be admin'd by properly trained Medical staff however the access restrictions may require FIRST or SELF aid.

Funny, I was talking to someone last weekend while I was out shooting about Celox bandages. This chap was telling me about a shooting specific first aid kit he was thinking about putting together and marketing. So with that in mind and this discount opportunity I'm going to put together a shooting specific first aid kit of my own containing Celox or Quickclot, chest seal, and some trauma dressings as well as the basics I already take with me. Plus a couple of other bits I don't yet have for the home first aid kit.

As per the video, could be the difference between life and death when you're out and about in the middle of nowhere.

Thanks again for sorting out this discount and passing it along to us..

As I say no problem , but thanks for the thanks.

I don't know the full story on Quick Clot , but from what I understand it was pretty cutting edge when it was released ( maybe too early from R&D??? ) and can cause significant additional injury to the patient and the attending individual. As it basically cauterises via burning and specks that get into your/their eyes or lungs can cause problems.

Interesting to note Celox has none of these issues.

I'm not saying don't use Quickclot and if I was the one bleeding out I'd be happy for anyone to try anything on me to save my life. Just that there are mixed views on it and the application of it.

From what I understand Quick Clot has been revised since it was initially launched.

I'm not decided which one I'm going for yet, need to do some more research..

Just placed an order - needed a first aid manual anyhow as they don't give them away free on first aid courses these days! I also bought a small Celox granules sachet. After a boy I know managed to stab himself in the arm and hit an artery, loosing alot of blood, I figured maybe a blood clotting thing might be a good "just in case" thing to add to my basic first aid kit. I also orderd a box of 25 low adhereant dressings - far cheeper than the equivalent in Boots. The other thing I threw in from a prepping point of view was 4 x FFp3 masks - one for each of us. Probably won't ever need them, but they are cheap enough at £1.50 each and at least I can always use them when doing a spot of DIY!

I've got some Quickclot myself, but since buying it I've also read that Celox is better. Apparently Quickclot tends to stick in the wound and makes it harder for emergency services to treat the wound once they get you to hospital. It does however do a good job at stopping serious bleeding, so if you are in the middle of no-where with severe bleeding, use it rather than bleed to death.

Hi Scooby,

I went on to the Bound tree Site and made a £30 order and i used the discount code.

They have some great stuff on there including some things i have found hard to get until now. Also their prices are great as well.

Really pleased and i will definatly be buying more from them in the future.

Thanks :D
