Tesco online shop - buy in bulk

If your after cheap bulk food try http://www.approvedfood.co.uk really good for all sorts everything from cleaning stuff to fruit juice I recently got 30 ltr of de'identified 100% pure Apple juice for £12 delivered (made some lovely cinnamon cider ) and when it arived it was ocean spray normaly £2 a liter or 2 for £3 so I saved £33 on the juice and the cider was around 17% so good nows what I saved in tax on 30ltr but it ment I didnt buy any drink over Christmas

I can usually buy cheaper than approvedfood at B+M or Tescos taking into account their every day value range. i actually don't rate approved foods prices.

Also, unless you have an allergy to protein and are capable of cooking, then lentils which last for an age, and mung beans are a better bet in some cases than tinned stuff

I would say not to open an account with tesco as they can then track and trace your every purchase , know where you live and your bank/credit card details, not paranoid honest , but there are cheaper out there .

Thats a very interesting point of view. If you DO have an account with tescos, then they can provide you with money off things that you do buy and they can, using their offers, make suggestions for more things. This is FOOD we are talking about anyway !!

I would much rather use a reward card with tescos then with Holland and Barrett as H+B is for health and hey might attempt to moderate how I medicate and that strikes me as unhealthy.

It just depends on your own point of view and politics.

Yep. Over the christmas period I have amassed the equivalent of £20 in future vouchers which can be doubled and sometimes trebled so possibly £60 on future preps.... Sounds good to me.

I wouldn't worry about it. I am sure Tesco are not covertly spying on you, other to provide you with money off vouchers for your most frequent purchases.

I would recommend everyone opens an account with tesco. As a new member you will receive emails offering money off your first shop. I have been a member for a few years but just used them for christmas presents and stuff. Last week though i had the best offer yet of £12.00 off my first grocery shop. I did the shop, chose the cheapest delivery slot and ended had it delivered before the snow. I ended up with about 30-40 own brand tins of veggies and stuff for free. Not to be sniffed at.

Also if you get a Tesco credit card you get extra points for using it, just make sure you pay it off at the end of the month, it is one of the few cards that actually pays you to use it.

Even if you buy your shopping at Sainsbury stores Tesco will pay you to do so.

Sorry folks , even with money off vouchers , club card points, etc etc etc , still cheaper out there , each to there own , but we are stuck with either tesco or lidl's here or a 10+ mile journey to an asda or morisons and have to say that I can get a trolley full of shopping for £100 but struggle to get half of that from tescos , too expensive ,too much information wanted , too little back .

Entirely agree. We have a lidl and and aldi with in easy reach. only bother Tesco on occasion.

We pay cash for all our prep shopping you can't be to careful. With regard to Tesco they do track every one who spends with payment cards or uses a loyalty in their stores, a family friend worked for them for many years and confirms just that.

Try the world foods / asian / indian cooking section. You can get 2 Kg bags of chick peas, lentils and mung beans at about £3 a pop. Spend £30, get 20 Kg of lentils, and as they swell up so much when you cook them in water, you will be amazed how many meals they can help you do. Also you can get 1 Kg bags of value rice for £0:40 at the moment, and 5 Kg bags of indian basmati for £5.

Remember to soak the mung beans overnight before you cook them otherwise it would be bad.

For £100 if you are using tesco carefully, you could feed yourself for many months, not necessarily a very varied or totally balanced diet, but you would definite be feeding yourself for 2 - 4 months, not including specialist breakfast cereals and the like.
