Looking for 8 X 38 CTSS for someone who lives a way away (he attends the same Game as I do, and we're allowed radios as part of our kit)

Hes not ebay savvy but he can walk into a supermarket

A little public information on these radios for you, they only have 8 channels, don't believe the false advertising that says they have 128, the ctcss or Continuous Tone-Coded Squelch System is a sub audible tone that is sent out with your transmission, you can have a choice of 38 of these tones, if you have two or more radios set to say channel 3 and ctcss tone 12 you will only here those transmissions. ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Continuous ... lch_System )

If someone has a radio set to channel 3 and a ctcss tone of 20 although they are on the same channel you will not hear them, this is because your radio will only respond to transmissions with a ctcss tone of 12.

If you have a radio that is on channel 3 and does not have a ctcss tone set you will hear both conversations, this is how you can scan through all 8 channels looking for active channels, unless you can find out what ctcss tone people are using you won't be able to talk to them, hence the 'privacy' term, there are bits of kit out there that can tell you which tone is being used.

Hope that has been helpful for some of you :geek:
