I can't imagine how anything made with Guinness can be lovely  I'm going to have to take your word for it.
I have a strategy, it's not written in stone, nor can it be, this scenario has too many variables, everything about it depends on those variables, being specific is not possible.

I tried Bannock this week as i too am looking for bread i can make in camp, i use Hovis bread mix at home (with a 1/4 cup of Lidl rye flour added), it is just add water, im yet to try it in my dutch oven, but there is no reason it wont be as good as at home, but bannock......?

It was rubbish and what is all the Milk or Butter milk or milk powder all about, you cant get it out of a tree?

So i am looking for a bread without dairy, i suppose that is flatbreads which are nice. :?

The most succesful one yet, i think its more a Damper, than a bannock and i recon less kneeding next time, i put everything in the bowl before i had crumbed in the lard so had to mix in the lard at the same time as the water!

So i down sized one of those recipies (thanks to Mrs.Munchh) to make a two person serving:

(I used some of those mesuring things that are actual 'cup' measures to make it simple)

1&1/4 cups Plain Flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1&1/2 tablespoon lard
1/2 cup cold water

 sorry couldn't stop eating it while hot, so forgot to take a pic when it was whole!

I knew Bannock was taken to America by Scottish trappers, i just watched a Ray mears vid where an Native North American Indian just made it at a ratio of 1 cup flour, 1 teaspoon baking powder, pinch salt, add water, cooked on top of the stove, i'll be trying that next.

just thinking of the most simple vac pac you could have in your pac, can you keep flour and baking powder together for long??
