It is a well documentated theory that should SHTF scenario occur, hourdes of people for cities embark for the country, possibly seeking farm foods etc. When the supermarkets are empty and local looting is fruitless I expect they will.

You are talking about potentially many times more than your village population, bearing down on your position, you cannot effectively prepare for that in a defensive manner. Hide and evade, both you and yours and hopefully preps too

Stay safe

I would love to be a fly on the wall when the slightly more worldly towny explains to the others that they need to look for food in fields "because that is where it comes from, honest!" :D

"WHAT, eggs come from a chicken's bum‽"

"Your kidding, the tinned food can't have run out?"

Spot on.

Though I suspect not that many will head to the country, I just don't think that many people know how.

For example, hotels will get looted quickly. But not for the tonne of food in the cellar, but the booze. Same with garages, not for fuel but for cigarettes.

I admire your generosity buddy :D But generally i personally would find it hard to be that optimistic , humans are animals after all and in an extreme case of SHTF that would become more apparent quickly especially in a densely populated area such as mine .
Small one-pub hamlet 1 mile away. Nearest town >10, nearest city >30. Biggest immediate danger will be locals, so I'm planning to incorporate them.

SHTF around 2017.
SHTF around 2017.

Maybe not, but being tucked up in the back end of nowhere surrounded by a moat full of sharks is nearly as good. 8-)

Interesting document, mainly good but I was alarmed to see a pyrexic child not categorised as a 999 call.

There are no street lights, pavements or casualty departments out here in the sticks, so if you are coming, you best tell your 'townie' chums not to wear their Birkenstock sandals and to pack a torch and some sticky plasters. Oh, and some celox impregnated field dressings, tourniquets and several dozen trauma kits would be a good idea too.And a scarf, you won't want to catch a chill either.
I recently experienced Plymouth City centre so that's why I prep.
