I have boiled eggs in a coke can, I have also done a few tins of soup and beans type foods in the tin, but it is keeping it moving that is often the hard part so not to burn the food against the bottom or sides.
On the foil front it is better to use the type used for takeaway meals with the cardboard lid, it is thicker and you can fold and unfold it a large number of times, it can be used as a tray, a pot, a frying pan and even a lid for your tin, and a lid for your mug of tea or coffee to keep it hotter for longer, doesn't fold down as flat as normal alluminium foil though.
Cooking direct in tin can?
Re: Cooking direct in tin can?
Lil - that is a NICE set! Probably a bit big for my EDC rucksack, but good for next time I'm in the mountains.
Gnole - the foil tray is a cool idea, I never thought of that. My local supermarket sells packs of foil trays quite cheap. I guess I can crumple it down so it's fairly flat. Light and small, great idea!
