No powercuts here.

What I *did* do was salvage some old slate roof tiles that were being skipped, to use as bases for candles to sit on - my surfaces aren't terribly fireproof otherwise. I also have some short pieces of wood to rest the slate on, so that whatever's underneath doesn't get scorched either. Plus a few other bits and bobs, I feel like I've come out of winter better than I went in.

No power cuts , but two planned outages , one to replace a pole , the other to service the switch , apart from that , not one . Ran the genny up a few times .

Nothing here either, was almost disappointed not to get a chance to 'play'.

I've also got a 2 ring lecky hob in case the gas goes off that I used to use when I worked away. That's in the garage with a lot of 'cooking stuff' for 'just in case'.

Did anyone else get an information leaflet through the door from the power distribution company? I got a glow in the dark emergency fridge magnet too. It would be interesting to do a straw poll to find out whether this was countrywide or just certain areas.
My family in Bristol got one too. In general they have received a few leaflets on being prepared/what to do in the event of power/water cuts and about having an emergency bag and contact details to hand.

I have plenty of alternatives for lighting and cooking and what is known as the powerless entertainment system: cards, jack straws, dominoes, radio that all live in the emergency box.

No power cuts so far though, now I'm prepared for them.

No power cuts (only short lived outage due to fuses being blown when switching on our dodgy electric hob  ).

We did receive a glow in the dark fridge magnet and an info leaflet. I think more councils are trying to get people to think for themselves and be a little prepared.

Yep, several power cuts, but nothing major, only a few hours here and there. But that's very good for us..............

No powercuts here as such. We had a few lighting problems during Winter ( light fitting failure) but the 72 LED inspection light(s) put that right 'til repairs were made. Also similar problem at my Daughter's place. I cannot stress the efficiency of these LED lamps enough. To be honest they are so cheap, there is no need for candles. The fire risk of candles make me shudder ( especially when you are terraced with a dipsh@t neighbour!)...
I shall be removing the batteries from all but one emergency light now that Summer has arrived.

A good reminder Jansman! I agree those LED lamps are fabulous. But have to confess that I also love candles of which I have hundreds, but always burnt safely in suitable holders. :P
