I bet that was a bit bleak Lil
Anyone else want to post a link to suitable location ? Paul ? Doesn't have to be your particular place but one with the attributes you would like....as teedee said, no right or wrong, just ideas to discuss.
A link to a less obvious one. Ignore the fact that Exeter is just upstream, i'm just using it as an example of an Estuary http://g.co/maps/z7z2z

Re: Bugging Out ?
This has been a good thread , Its good to see peoples ideas and discuss them ,even if we disagree with them. I think its useful because someone may point out a glaring omission in your plan or give you a chance to contemplate it to a different degree.
Lets keep this one going , someone else to publish a location please.

Try these 2, i've posted them before, Chapel Lodge & Chapel Cottage + large mobile home, Charterhouse nr Blagdon, North Somerset BS40 7XS, both empty and long abandoned, if you go onto Google maps and put in the postcode you will be able to see both properties, i used to keep a regular check on these when we lived in Glastonbury but they are too far from my present location for bug out purposes.Carrot Cruncher wrote:I bet that was a bit bleak Lil

Re: Bugging Out ?
Looks quite good, a cottage hiden away in a rural setting has lots of upsides, and plenty of woodland and room to grow crops, and water is never an issue in Somerset. A lot of them about so less chance of people heading for the one you have selected
I dont know that bit of Somerset very well (is it elevated ?) but have delivered to places like Mark and all around that area and it is extremely flat and low lying. I think if the pumps aren't working and the sluice gate arent being operated a lot of the lower lying parts of Somerset will revert back to being bogs and lakes so that might be worth considering

Re: Bugging Out ?
Ok, have posted this one before but we got a lot of new members now. I know this castle well, been in it and over it, around it and under it too if that was poss lol. This castle was never taken, but was abandoned when we got peace on the border. It has a well inside the courtyard, with a horse trough still fixed. And a burn running near it. It originally had great wooden walkways going round the exterior for archers. It's been empty since 1600s and is still solid. I love it

Re: Bugging Out ?
These(2) cottages are high up above Cheddar, no chance of flooding there but you are right CC once the power to the pumps stops, most of somerset will be underwater, Glastonbury will be an island once more, as i said these cottages are well out of the flood area and have fields all around them, usually full of sheep, plenty of deer in somerset too.Carrot Cruncher wrote:Looks quite good, a cottage hiden away in a rural setting has lots of upsides, and plenty of woodland and room to grow crops, and water is never an issue in Somerset. Re: Bugging Out ?
near there TD, you have to move the map across to the right- look for CHARTERHOUSE ( the nearest village to the cottages).
