Yeah that's true, probably 7kW max is available for the power sockets. Cooker is separate, of course. That plus lights adds up to total of around 11kW capacity.

3kW is max for any single socket, but a double socket should only have 3kW total, which can be an appliance up to 3kW, but only in one of the two sockets. I have 2 double sockets in the kitchen, plus the cooker separate and hidden, plus the washing machine in a double, hidden. One double has the microwave. The mini oven, kettle and toaster are all by the other double. I only ever use one of these at a time in that double. So if I want the kettle and mini oven on, I move the kettle to the microwave socket, and only use it when the microwave's not on. So I might use the microwave for 2 minutes, turn the switch off at the socket, turn the other switch on, and boil some water.

Golden rule folks:
For kitchen appliances...Use the socket switches - on a double, only have one on at any time! Unless it's something trivial, but you don't tend to have such things in a kitchen. I do have two extensions in a double in my room, but the total load is trivial. I never use my hair dryer and electric radiator at the same time.

Where did you get this information from re the double sockets suggest you ask chatgbt to look up BS1363

Then you'll discover that a double socket is tested at 20amp (14a on one plug and 6a on the other for a prolonged period)

I got it from a conversation with ChatGPT. Also my mini oven's instructions said not to plug any other appliances in the same socket. GPT generated some instructions for lodgers. I won't post them, because I made a few small tweaks to what it wrote.

I didn't record the amps, I find it easier to think in kW.

I'm not sure what it is you are disagreeing with. Yes, you can use a low wattage appliance in the other half of a double. Maybe you can use a microwave and kettle at the same time in the same one. I don't know. I suppose GPT was playing on the safe side to avoid the kettle and mini oven being used in the same one. It's not an issue for me, because the kettle is only on for a couple of minutes.

I am amazed

No on an extension lead outside  a ho7rnf extension lead of 2.5mm² with a heavy duty rubber plug and trailing socket no problems ;)

She can do the christmas dinner in the old pans and save me the washing up after christmas dinner

If i disapear after christmas morning im probably under the patio

she picked them up cheap at tesco today

Good prep item if the cooker goes pop or big blackout we can use them on the portable induction hob via generator
Please tell me that is not a christmas present.

Fortunately not  or I might need a crash helmet that GeeGee suggested
Reminds me of the year I bought Herself a wheelbarrow (like a smaller version of a builder's barrow) the three women I worked with were horrified.
Not only did she specifically ask for one, but she gave me a list of acceptable alternative gifts...... None of which would of been deemed suitable by any of my female friends (why, don't women want a battery screwdriver of their own?? ).
I did buy most of the fairly short list as well as some slab chocolate and flowers

Never been able to beat the looks of family members when I got my grandma a "witches" broom for Christmas ... when I was helping her tidy her garden over Autumn she said a few times she wishes she could find one.. I ended up in a really old hardware shop for a gas bottle just before Christmas and they had a couple in the shop.. one was duely purchased and wrapped up

Horror look from my aunt and mum .. grandmas big grin "where on earth did you find one I've looked everywhere "

Grandson points earned

The Gas supply is off in 4 towns around me
We're all used to the electric going off but when gas disappears a lot are confused
Hoping it doesn't get this far it seems to have shut down one town after another and the next one is me ..
Fortunately today I was in home bargains and grabbed the small gas cannisters for the camping stoves and cooking ring ..
The stuff I've been reading ..I've no hot water
My chicken dinner is in the oven and needs cooking
My central heating isn't working
Is the fish shop still open
And some people are genuinely confused as to what to do
Northern Powergrid is en route to try pinpoint what's happened but so many towns etc. .
Could be a long night for a hell of a lot of people and a cold one too
Will be stocking up on some more gas cannisters
Went in aldi and they have pretty good torches with batteries included 9.99 so had to have one of those also  had no water all day yesterday but the stash made it so there wasn't a issue ..replenished that also ....
