And wood burners are pretty much carbon neutral, whereas coal isn't, maybe Sue is an environmentally aware prepper

Saw this on another thread so THANKS who ever it was who posted the original link to the site. The order is coming Wednesday so will check it out and might buy more if any good :D

Decided to try these guys out and ordered a few things from them yesterday, (including the cheese and marge) and this afternoon it appeared on my doorstep. As we had included one item of perishables (pack of savaloys) it came in an expanded polystyrene insulated box, with some chiller cubes inside. I was pleasently supprised to find that BB dates ranged from this month on the sav's up to 2015 on some of the tins. For 25p a tin the marge is suprisingly large, 450g being only slightly smaller than the plastic tubs we normally buy that last us a fortnight.

The cheese, for those that have had the 'pleasure' is very reminicent of the old tins of rat pack cheese, in both size and flavour and has had the taste approval of my lad, but that is dodgey as he likes issue pate and biscuits brown

Some stuff on the site is cheaper elsewhere, but there are def some deals to be had there, and we will be using them again

Just spent some time on Chemist Direct and picked up a few medical bargains in their sale...
Box of 50 face masks for 3.99
70Pce First Aid kit for under £12

Looking in to Calor Gas fires.. and might be getting a generator for free... Fingers crossed on that one!!

Just wondering what the best before dates are like on the butter and cheese?.. I think for 25p a tin its got to be a bargain esp as its buy 5 for price of 4

Cheers

There are studys that prove woodburners fill your body and the surrounding fields and crops (for miles) with cancer causing contaminates. Google it.

Man has warmed himself around such things since day one so i am not too concerned about it, but they are not the dream answer to home heat many try to put across.

Unfortunately there are studies that will prove anything, given the right selection of data. As you said, man has been warming himself like this for eons, and if it was that bad, then how did we ever survive as a race?

Just bought a pack of 3 Rolson 9 LED torches (including batteries) from Makro for the large sum of £6.

As it's just got dark I have been testing them in the garden...and for for what works out at £2 each including 3 AAA batteries they are absolutely excellent value for money, and cheap enough to have a fair few hanging around in usefull places

Getting the BoB filled out now, just going to wait on the hammock and tarp to arrive, then it's a medical kit and food away from being done.

Some more stocks and some arranging to be done of stores and then it's tidying out my workshop as its got in a real mess recently.

He survival all right but had about 20% of the lifespan as us.

Just because something is lethal to mankind dosnt mean he wont 'survive as a race' alongside it.

Eskimo's exist in a lethal enviroment & even we had lead waterpipes for decades.

Wood-burning stoves 'can be as deadly as exhaust fumes' by producing smoke that can cause heart disease
