Also look at these

They come with a magnetic self adhesive disc so getting them down and putting back up is easy enough
Right. I like the idea of one low down, could put one at the top of the stairs.

For some reason,my photos are not accepted. Anyhow,here is a link https://www.bmstores.co.uk/products/ele ... -and-bulbs

Scroll nine rows down, and you’ll see the kind of thing I mean. Motion Activated Lights. Battery powered
Cheers. How long do the batteries last? I guess it depends, didn't you say you sometime use them instead of the regular light? I really hate going up step ladders these days, hard enough changing the smoke alarm batteries.

I upload photos I take on my phone to imgur, then post the image link in the Image. Other photos online I just put the image link in the same as that.
What I showed you is limited. There are other lights available if you search. The one I showed you is stuck on the top of a door frame.

Regarding photos… if it ain’t simple

Seriously, thanks for offering an alternative!
Yeah, found some ones I could stick on a wall near the top of the stairs, will no doubt get one.
Re photos, I notice what I wrote came out funny. I'm on mac so it might be different. If the photo is already online, I open it in a new tab. Then right click on it and select "copy image link" or copy the url in the bar at the top. Then select the image button at the top of the comment box. I say img twice in square brackets. You have to type = and then paste the link in the first one after = so it reads [ img=https...etc ] without spaces. Uploading a photo to imgur is dead easy too.

We have tried several motion sensing lights but I couldn't tell you where they came from as we've had them so long. There is one on the landing and one in the hall so we can climb the stairs safely in the dark (or even find our way to the kitchen from the living room). It is very dark here on nights withought a moon. Before I had my current clock, I needed a torch to find my way out of the bedroom in the middle of the night or Mr A would grumble that I knocked into the bed when trying to get round it.
