No sense of taste or smell for that time, and beyond for the time being. That messes with the head for sure. So much so, I have not eaten properly for a week , and lost weight. I am now banging the spiciest grub down me ( I can sense the ‘heat’) and quite quickly getting energy back.

For the first time ever , I am now keeping and taking vitamin tablets and being ABSOLUTELY careful with dietary intake. Also , we will now keep ‘ready’ meals in the freezer for when we are not too clever. Something we have never done.

Apparently, 1:50 adults is getting COVID right now, in particular over 50’s +. So all of you , whatever age, please take care.
Sorry to hear you've been so ill, jansman - I came down with it on 10th August, and I'm still not quite right, not quite. I've read the reports of cases just starting to rise, and dreading it. Fortunately, I had my booster 2 days ago. I don't have the flu booster yet, but I will when offered.

Preps wise: massively stocking up, including dehydrating some veg. I'm also feeling able to start cleaning the house, after being unable to do anything for weeks. And going for a walk almost every day, to build up my strength. Faffing about with a kitchen curtain to increase privacy and insulation - next is preparing my living room floor, to insulate it a bit more - giving the vinyl on it a clean before I do anything else. Insulating layers will be another layer of vinyl and some 100% wool underlay.

New winter jacket and more food. Plus saving hard, it's going to be rough this winter.

Jansman. I hope you make a quick & full recovery. I also know too many people badly affected like this.
We have had a policy for some years now that if we are cooking a "freezable" meal we will cook double or treble and freeze the surplus for an easy meal. Some pouches of micro rice complete the quick & easy factor for curry or chilli. It made a huge difference when we were both ill together last spring.

Good advice with the food. It’s going to become a preparation for us we feel. Anything that saves effort when you just don’t feel right is perfect. The pouches of rice have certainly become part of our storage lately. ;)

I remember going through the same thing with my mum and then my brother  the strawberry flavour was disgusting, no one would use it  I tried it too, when we were clearing the house, and there's no way I'd use it ;)

You've gone for it! Good for you. That's my project for today, to write out a list of what each model can do. Which did you go for, GeeGee? And what was the deciding factor?

Went for the 500 w ..decided on this as I couldnt afford the 1000w haha but also its sufficient if there's a blackout have a coupe of solar panels on shed and combined it should do what I want it to do ..easy enough for me to understand plug socket on it usbs and I know how to plug in to recharge
What I needed
Relatively simple 😂

That’s the heating on.

Half an hour in the morning and half an hour in the evening. Hopefully it won’t be too expensive.
