This week I have mostly been chopping wood. As a young un I worked on a farm so wielding an axe was an everyday occurrence. We were fortunate to be given a couple of massive loads of logs last week which is brilliant and so out came the axe. As a not so young un these days I was pleased that I still have the strength and technique and am now the proud owner of a huge pile of split logs. Unfortunately the six pack which all the axe wielders on TV adverts seem to have didn't materialise, perhaps it's because I didn't have the correct brand of fizzy drink, the fact I'm female or more likely that I need to spend many more months chopping wood.

I've also been looking at our alternative cooking facilities of which we have several and looking for decent iron ware pans etc to use on top of the log burners. Any recommendations would be appreciated.

Aldi have their excellent fruit trees in again, so I've bought another 20 to go in my fledgling orchard. They sold out too quickly last year, but I bought a load the year before and they're all doing very well - much bigger and healthier than trees I bought from specialised nurseries.

I'm not sure its not 'technically' a prep as such but tonight I've started using ebay for the first time in about 8 or 9 years. I was a die hard Amazon fan until they started getting arsey with the p & p on stuff. Took the plunge and I'm back to being a kid in a sweetshop. I'm supposed to be economising too, tonight's purchases have included a couple of Nitecore 14500's, some medical gear and a few other bits and bobs that winked at me. Goddamn you internet.

I'm male, have been chopping wood like that for years and funnily enough, i neither do not have a tasty six pack, in fact i have no pack what so ever, if you find out what that special fizzy drink is, please let me know, p.s does it give you a nice natural looking tan as well???

As for preps; just trying to pay some debts off at the mo, touch wood (or logs) the bad winter seems to have past us by for the time being so have not used any preps yet so need not spend anything to replace preps used. :D

Thanks for the heads-up. :) I went and got some today. I missed out last year. Just need to keep an eye out for their citrus trees, I missed out on them last year too. :(
