Finally bit the bullet and disposed of all the foodstuffs that I can no longer eat due to health.
Cleared a double wardrobe out
All that's left is Nido Milk powder and salt

Two is one and one is none, but three is even better.

That’s a tough call P. If you cannot eat it though…

I’ve just ordered some one way mirror film for the living room windows. I’m not happy with some recent attention my house has been receiving

This morning I sowed my first vegetable seeds. Tomatoes, chillies,Welsh onions, broad beans, leeks and lettuce. It’s a start.
Also took delivery of a 20w folding solar panel - with USB outlet- for charging batteries and power bank etc.( inspired by Yorkshire Andy!) Going to have a play when daylight gets longer.

Preps today are for tomorrow's storm Eunice. Checking batteries, charging batteries, placing camping lanterns on the landing and downstairs. Making sure I've got gaffa tape, my forest school tarps and some plastic sheeting incase of damage to conservatory ftom nearby listed oak that drops small branches into our garden after normal winds! Also stacking the garden chairs and moving them. Last high winds of note that we had through here lobbed one into the fence and smashed a panel a few years back! We don't often get power outs down south here, (Apart from on an estate I used to live that had gremlins in the cables ) so I bet my friend who lives opposite will be knocking on my door is the power goes. In fairness, she has got better and they do own a torch now!

Yup, preps for today are for Eunice. As Mouse mentioned on the Dudley thread, I've got the washing machine on the go. Going to get some soaked beans into the slow cooker in a minute. I'm going to clear the garden, and protect some container plants a bit better. I'll charge up the batteries, but the worst of the wind here isn't till tomorrow daytime, so unless it's catastrophic, I won't need extra charged batteries.

Wind not much of a problem so far but we have snow. Been loading logs for the stove into boxes and putting them in the shed attached to the house as the log store is further away. keeping the box in the house full. Filling flasks before going to bed so will have hot water if power goes off overnight,
can tackle most things # after I've had my morning cuppa. Otherwise all set and not concerned. Had trouble getting telly but discovered if I hit the sky dish with a spade to dislodge the snow it helps.

I’ve been in the yard repairing an aviary ,and the sound of chainsaws is like a symphony playing across the village I took the dogs for a run round to the sound of the nearest saw to see if there were logs to score : Verily,I am the neighbourhood scavenger - and there were none. However, there is a house up there being renovated. The skip outside was full of timber off cuts, but more importantly, plywood, lots of plywood! A quick word with the chippies and it was all mine I went and fetched the motor, and they even helped me load it. Five trips. I’ll find space for itYorkshire Andy wrote: ↑Thu Feb 17, 2022 10:31 amizzy_mack wrote: ↑Thu Feb 17, 2022 10:20 am Wind not much of a problem so far but we have snow.
