Hi SooBee, was your post about lighting a fire referencing my tiny little effort at burning my prunings last week? Thanks anyway, whether it was or not ... you're right about practising, I'd never tried it before, and must do lots more. In my defence, tho, I have to say the stuff I was *trying* to burn was a couple of weeks dead. Actually, maybe that doesn't dry it out enough, especially as there *had* been a few downpours - it was ivy, which is very tough, of course.

Anyway, other preps - internet orders! From Boundtree Medical, and Landmine Adventure (lightsticks, and another gadget for my keyring).

Boundtree order - lots of burn stuff (have you EVER tried to get a pharmacist to sell you flamazine or similar??? It's hoenestly easier to get methodone out of them.. "our recommendation is to leave the burn open to the air" etc. etc. ).

'also earthed up the winter tatties in the greenhouse and stocked up on some other uninteresting essentials.

I have started reading posts on here again! Took a break as it was beginning to take over my life and all the prepping was making forget to live a bit in the here and now. Surprised at the changes, but happy to be back :D

I have also been away from the forum for a while, but I am still doing what I can to find stuff out. At the moment, I am using a UV-C wand for the purposes of killing infections and maintaining hygiene around the house. I am learning more about how UV is used including to increase the life for fresh fruit and vegetables by 1 - 2 days depending on how much it is used on the food item. I don't yet know about meats, but I am definitely going to save up for more good quality UV devices. They can kill viruses. Mainly it is used for surface sanitizing, but there are some that are used to clean the air and even kill evil things in water.

So, as usual, my "prepping" is more about researching to gain knowledge. Also skill development.

Just found out today that the business I work for has been sold. Looks like I will be on the job market as I am NOT working for the new owners. Cannot say why, as I will be accused of being politically incorrect! And so forth.

This is where the preps come in. Jan has worked out a survival level budget, and I must say it don't look too bad!

My Boss, whom I have worked with, on and off for 28 yrs. promised me the earth- but sold me down the river. As his key employee, he thinks I will TUPE over to the new owners. Fat chance!I don't do Halal butchery!!! Nor am I a training specialist or business consultant.

Anyhow my personal s hit the fan this weekend but the Girls are keeping me grounded!
In three words I can sum up everything I have learned about life: It goes on.
