Re: What Preps are you doing this week
I started work this week! Very excited and happy that it has all started and I can put the training into practice.
Re: What Preps are you doing this week
Very glad to hear the jobs situation for maxilaura and preppingpingu!
I was bored of working at home this afternoon, and decided to have a walk to the edge of the village and beyond, a walk I only did last year, before I was consciously into prepping. It was fascinating! Found lots of blackberries ready to ripen, verging on footpaths, no roads near at all. And I found a whole new route to think about if I was ever forced out of my house and had to bug out to my sister's - nearly all country footpaths, just a few places where they cross a road. Great stuff.
I'm also having a think - sort of like people are saying about taking stock. If I was abandoning this house possibly permanently, in the face of an escalating disaster, where road traffic is still possible, but we could only make one journey, in a fairly ordinary car, what would I take? Food, drink, medical equipment, gardening stuff, DIY stuff. A few clothes - in real emergencies, my sister's clothes would fit me. I'd try to dig up as many plants as I could from the garden, actually - she doesn't really have any food plants. Just thinking of that acronym PACE - Primary, Alternate, Contingency, Emergency.

Thanks
and sorry Jansman to hear of your situation. Keeping fingers and toes crossed for you. Hmmm PACE - I hand't picked on that one but its a good un. Good for prioritising what needs to be done. Think it must be that time of year for taking stock - Autumn looming with winter to follow and the down time from summer hols over. Good time to re think preps and the like.

It's only minor but stored 30l of diesel in the cellar. I know many folks have 100 times this stocked but I had a rare spare few quid so thought Ide put it away. I know it wont change the world but one day I may be thankful?
Ive also had an idea re. my pennies; Im saving the odds and ends over the week, then on a Friday I nip into Aldi (just outside the office) and see what tinned goods I can add, its surprisingly good, usually 8-10 tins.

day off tomorrow, so going into wilkinsons to buy one of those plastic storage boxes , my first prepper war chest, i go through a lot of diet coke , so already have a fair few empty bottles for water, just working on the rule of 3s at the moment(which im sure you all know) air, water, food. The way prepping gets you, will probably buy more in due course also getting camping and pocket stove, cos im in a small 2 bedroomed flat space is at a premium, wil prep essentials for couple of weeks and gradually extend

Dont let the fireman know, the legal limit is 20l (2x10l metal containers) or 10l (2x5l plastic containers), unless you have a license to store more. Diesel is very useful, but not great for storage inside the home. I've got a few litres of fuel for stoves in the house and I'm always a bit nervous about that personally...each to their own however.the7ps wrote:It's only minor but stored 30l of diesel in the cellar.
