Last year we bought my Dad a couple of sets of "Navigare" pyjamas, April comes round and we have to book him in to get them surgically removed

I got them on Ebay, heres a link to another seller (I paid about twice this price :x )

The brand is big with the sailing crowd as you can easily pull your waterproofs on over the top should you need to.

They don't look like either PJs or thermal underwear, but could be used as such

Interesting one this. Although we have central heating, we only use it when the cold is extreme. Neither of us like being too hot. We heat with two multi fuel stoves, and there is portable electric upstairs, but it is rarely used. It may sound Spartan but the stoves keep the place quite comfy.

And we wear layered clothing. When it gets really cold I wear thermals too. No sense in suffering when I walk over to the West Wing

But seriously, our ancestors wore far more clothing than us. I have photos of tenants who lived in our house in 1899. Looking at the trees in the picture it looks like Spring, and they still looked as if they were dressed for Winter.

This wandering round the house half naked is very recent. It never happened when I was a kid. Anyhow, get him some thermals for Christmas. You may be surprised, and he wears them. :D
You're right about the wandering around half bollicky, even in my early 20's flat sharing I would have a go at mates for wanting to put the heating on (after all, its a waste of good beer money at that age) and to put some more clothes on, at some point about 30 (and being a bit financially better off) I thought to hang with it, if I'm cold I'll put the heating on although in fairness it doesn't happen very often, as I posted earlier my inner tightness would rather get under a blanket than put the CH on although the missus takes a different view. We do live completely differently now, its great having all the mod cons, I wouldn't choose to live any other way although I prep in case I have to.

I've got the LJ's if required though, either for walking in serious weather (which I don't really do any more unfortunately) or sitting in freezing football grounds and I've got no problem with them, they do make a difference.

I like those pyjamas too, thank you  He never used to feel the cold, it was me who moaned. Now he's on blood thinners, plus is quite anaemic and it seems to make such a difference. I've ordered a couple of merino base layer tshirts from Millets so will see how that works. Great posts ty.

I have a small heart condition, and my best friend indoors is my hot water bottle, if he doesn't have one, get it for him. They even come in pocket size.
Outdoors, it's my hands and my feet that gets really cold, so i'm going to get gloves and insoles that are heated by battery.
