Have just spent a couple of days going through the Healthy Canning site. Slightly terrified to fire up the ol' All American now! Anyhoo...I did notice that she says the as of this Spring (2017) Ball has come out with a new lid, SureTight, that will replace all their current ones: http://www.healthycanning.com/ball-suretight-lids/ Possibly why the Ball lids are currently going cheap(er)?

I seem to recall there being a bit of a thing on the internet, Bexar Prepper did a video about it. It was all to do with new Ball lids and instructions. Maybe these are a response. I do know that the Ball lids I have hold a seal longer than 12months, however, I don't store anything long term anymore and my home canned stores are rarely more than a year old so it's not an issue for me. For those of you planning longer term storage it may be worth further investigation.
