Alas in Casa PG it's either me or the cat! And he tends to use the excuse of not having opposable thumbs to get out of most things. I'm fine with most jobs, I'd just rather not touch these things with my bare hands - in fairness I do have a problem with eczema and dermatitis, and parasite ridden slug slime or dog/kitty poop on open wounds is probably best avoided if possible. A thin poop bag makes all the difference

Our neighbour and us get slugs in the house from time to time. They seem to get in through the cat flaps on the back doors.A barrier of salt does the biz.Mind you,as frogs will control them,we have the bonus of all the live ones that Eric, our Tom cat brings in for us.we regularly have them hoppin' around the house!
In three words I can sum up everything I have learned about life: It goes on.

Haha, same here I get the odd slug trying to sneak in through the back door after rain. I’ve started putting a line of salt outside the threshold too, works a treat as long as it doesn’t get washed away.
For the garden though, I’ve had more luck with copper tape around pots and raised beds keeps things a bit more eco-friendly than salt everywhere. And if you’ve got frogs or hedgehogs around, even better, they’re the best natural pest control you can get!

Re: Slug control in the garden
A good few years ago when we had slug trouble, we would go into the garden around 9pm, wife with a torch,
me in rubber gloves and with a carrier bag with some salt.
First night over 70 slugs and snails, second night 50, third night 40 odd, after a week we just got a handful.
We were told by an elderly gardener to cut the numbers down through the year, to put out slug pellets on
Valentines night as it stops them breeding (do they breed ?.....don’t really know).....but it seemed to work.
