There's a very good YouTube clip here on how to build a brick rocket stove (16, 20 or 24 bricks). Works every time and once the fire's going you'll find wet wood can be used - in fact if it's slightly damp it burns longer.

"Dumbass"?? really - he said you can "hold the pan up with rocks or sticks". With 3 sticks secured as a triangular frame you can suspend a pot over the heat without burning the frame. Maybe you're behind the curve but hopefully you've learned a valuable skill.

really liked the clip - and I now have a great use for the pile of bricks we unearthed when preparing our new veg plot, many thanks Brunel.
