lets not forget the humble stinging nettle, Urtica dioica. It will purify land from pollutants (ready for other crops in a season or two), they can act as a nice deterrent, medically they're very effective for a range of issues, including topically as a very effective pain killer and to induce blood flow to the surface, very easily grow! and is highly nutritious! natures multi-vitamin! it was eaten as a spring tonic by our ancestors due to the lack of nutrients over winter! easy to make nettle wine / beer too! win-win all round :D

great idea on scattering seeds in certain places though! blackberries and strawberries too will grow very well and add some extra vitamins and flavours to your SHTF diet
