Are they the same squadies who moan about defence cuts?

The items in question are a "one time issue" and will not be handed back in after deployment, don't blame the service personnel, blame the system.

Oh, and next time the firemen have a strike.... you man a firetruck for half the money, or step up for security at the Olympics.

I went into a public-'ouse to get a pint o' beer,
The publican 'e up an' sez, "We serve no red-coats here."
The girls be'ind the bar they laughed an' giggled fit to die,
I outs into the street again an' to myself sez I:
O it's Tommy this, an' Tommy that, an' "Tommy, go away";
But it's "Thank you, Mister Atkins", when the band begins to play,
The band begins to play, my boys, the band begins to play,
O it's "Thank you, Mister Atkins", when the band begins to play.
Two is one and one is none, but three is even better.

Would we blame the system if if they did not hand ammunition.

I take it you mean the uniform's? that they were given? If so i think you will find that it was a perquisite

No, because ammunition has to be handed back in used or unused, and there are penalties for failing to do so.

No, I mean, coming back from a war zone, and having their leave cancelled to fill in for another job, they may of moaned but they still did it.

......definitely not part of their job description, but hey, they're only squaddies right?

when I was in I was used as a civilian ambulance driver during their strike and as a prison guard. Not what I joined up for . Plus I was on less money than them and didn't have the right to strike or any rights over working hours. Yes I know i volunteered, but that was to be a soldier not a low paid dogsbody. So I don't blame squaddies for trying make a bit of extra cash when they don't get paid overtime rates for working 16 hour days.

Call me selfish, but it a shame they dont get given the jerry cans, i'd buy a cheap one off a squaddie tomorrow if i could.

I always look for personal issue stuff being sold on ebay, its how i got alot of the surpluss stuff i have, dont see the problem myself.

I just wish i could buy some of their skills.

Same here - don't blame anyone. I buy lots of ex-military stuff. God bless them :D

Just a reminder, the lifesaver water filter requires the charcoal filter replacing every 250 litres and the ceramic either 4000 or 6000 litres.

Spares can be had on the bay, just bagged 4 from silvermans' store - no affiliation blah blah......

Also if buying 2nd hand - ensure it's either unused or that the filter has been kept with water inside it.
